Dear Speaker Ramsey and Speaker Harwell:

We oppose a special legislative session to consider an anti-transgender bathroom discrimination law.  It is never justified to spend the state's time and money to advance discrimination.  Thank you for considering our views.

Such a bill will have unintended consequences that are not good for transgendered persons…

This is political pandering when the Legislature should be attending to the real business of the state. There are very few Transgender individuals in the country and if you went to the bathroom and there was a transgender person in the same room you would not know it. I worked at ETSU for years and shared a bathroom with a person who identified as Transgender. She had served in the military and won several medals. I knew how she identified herself because she was kind enough to come out to our classes to educate people about their bias. Although I worked at the university for many years (which was a safe area to come out) there was only the one person who identified as transgender. So, while I can’t make people stop hating people for being different than them, I can reassure you that the chances of you sharing a bathroom with someone of a different gender in negligible.I should also address the issue of harm to children. There is no harm to children and no history of harm. Being a transgender individual has nothing to do with being a pedophile or being a sex offender.

Dear Speaker Ramsey and Speaker Harwell:

HB2 will cost North Carolina $5 billion over the next 12 months. Let’s not make the Tennessee economy and its people suffer. Hateful legislation has already cost Nashville significant money, though Nashville’s reputation for and resolve of inclusivity, wisdom and acceptance will not be moved. It’s time to stop wasting time and money and move ALL of Tennessee forward, not just Nashville.

We can judge the content of our character by how we treat the most vulnerable among us. What is Tennessee’s character?

We oppose a special legislative session to consider an anti-transgender bathroom discrimination law. It is never justified to spend the state’s time and money to advance discrimination. Thank you for considering our views.

Let’s not go down, the same path as NC. Our educational system is already fragile enough without the federal government taking away funds because of discrimination! Protect transgender people whose lives are in danger!

This is a HORRIBLE solution to a non-existent problem. Do not promote discrimination and do not promote fear about something that has NEVER happened (the only people cross-dressing and going into restrooms with anything less than noble intentions are the haters promoting this type of legislation, and they are making fools of themselves). Please don’t add TN to the list of states that will suffer economically from this legislation which will ultimately be found to be UNCONSTITUTIONAL.

The only perverts wanting to know what other people are doing in bathroom stalls are politicians that want the public to look somewhere else while they do something even more nefarious to the economy, freedom or the environment.
