No special legislative session for bathroom discrimination!

On the evening of May 17, The Tennessean and The Commercial Appeal reported that legislators are considering a special legislative session to take up a new effort to pass a statewide anti-transgender bathroom discrimination law.  Sign YOUR name to the statement below and we'll deliver your signatures to legislative leaders:

Dear Speaker Ramsey and Speaker Harwell:

We oppose a special legislative session to consider an anti-transgender bathroom discrimination law.  It is never justified to spend the state's time and money to advance discrimination.  Thank you for considering our views.

Please do not further discrimination by holding a special session to consider such a hate filled law. You would not consider such an action for other minority groups so why would you consider doing so for the transgender community who is already at risk for being assaulted and killed. Requiring a transgender woman to use the men’s restroom will only increase her chances of being assaulted and sending a transgender man to the women’s room will only frighten and cause discomfort with the cisgender women. I implore you not to waste Tennessee taxpayer money on this special session and the lawsuits that will quickly follow. Spend it on helping the homeless and educating the children. Especially those in high risk areas. Thank you for your time.

So sick of Tennessee looking like the silly simple people of South Carolina, Georgia, etc. Good grief, how ignorant they look to the world. How backwards and ridiculous. The people of Tennessee aren’t really that ignorant are they?

“Bathroom” legislation is the most ignorant and unnecessary legislation and is a waste of money. Most importantly, it is discriminatory and hateful.

We as Southerners are sometimes labeled as slow and stupid. This type of legislation solidifies and gives credence to the label.

Educate yourself and stop the insanity.

You were elected to represent the people of your districts, which includes transgender individuals. Stop wasting tax payer money on attempting to discriminate against them in violation of federal law.

Please do not join in this gender segregation debacle. How many forms of discrimination can we place on the books. It is totally against gender recognition that is already the law of the nation. Why should Tennessee spend time and money placing a statute on the books that is already against federal law in all considerations of practice. Why not place your efforts in solving real issues like our place nationally on the poverty and education scale ?

Its not transgender people that are harming children its statistically heterosexual men. It’s sadly people others trust their children with like coaches, bus drivers and sadly at times family members. Dennis Hastert conservative Republican is a child molester. He is allowed in bathrooms with children. Jared from Subway is a child molester. He is allowed in bathrooms with children. The laws in NC and Mississippi discriminate against gay people and transgenders. They can be fired and denied medical attention. It’s not about the bathrooms…it wasn’t in the 60s and its not now. Its an excuse to discriminate. Do the right thing and don’t judge or discriminate. Actually make laws tougher on child molesters like Dennis Hastert and Jared from Subway. Those are the sick people hurting others and stop picking on a small minority group of citizens. Gay and transgender people do not have an agenda they just want to live peacefully in their own country. Child molesters like Dennis Hastert have an agenda and that’s disguising themselves as people you trust with your kids.
