Defend Diversity at UT-Knoxville: Veto SB1912

The Legislature passed SB1912/HB2248 that removes funding from the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Sign this petition that we will deliver to Governor Haslam asking him to veto the bill.

The Bill to defund the Diversity Office at UT/Knoxville is misguided and ill-conceived, and totally fails to understand the importance of diversity in a education environment, most especially a University, that on every aspect, makes the citizens of Tennessee proud. The state has been made a mockery in the press and on TV for trying to make the Bible (which of the thousands of versions will be official, and how is that NOT a violation of the protections afforded by the US and Tennessee Constitutions?) the official State Book, and for trying to legislate who can use which bathroom. Tennesseans are NOT the backwoods hill-billies we are made out to be by the reactionary legislature, whose members seem hell-bent on sending us back to the early 19th century. P)lease stand up for what is right with Tennessee and VETO the Bill to defund the UT Diversity Office.
