Defend Diversity at UT-Knoxville: Veto SB1912

The Legislature passed SB1912/HB2248 that removes funding from the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Sign this petition that we will deliver to Governor Haslam asking him to veto the bill.

As an alumnus of the university, I am so sad to see such an integral department be subjected to ridiculous legislation from fearful elected officials. If you want UT to be a well-respected institution representing the state of Tennessee, please VETO this bill. It will only harm those in the most disadvantaged positions hoping to attend college and feel welcomed and safe. Even if you are unsure on the issues of religious freedom or LGBTQ rights, please veto for the sake of the people of color, international students, and those of varied ethnic and cultural backgrounds. UT should be a space welcoming to all.
