Dear Governor Haslam,
We ask you to veto SB1085/HB1111. This bill, as the Attorney General has noted, is broadly written. Its vagueness could result in conflicts with existing laws about judicial interpretation. These conflicts are likely to cause discrimination against LGBTQ people, particularly with respect to marriage, adoption, and legal documents. This bill risks subjecting Tennessee to the same scrutiny that North Carolina has received. We cannot afford hundreds of millions of dollars in economic boycotts and sanctions. Please, veto this bill so we can avoid judicial chaos and costly discrimination. Thank you for considering our views.
Stacey Williams posted about Summer of Love Tour: Tour Stop Organizer on Facebook 2015-05-01 13:54:17 -0500I signed up to volunteer for Tennessee Equality Project. Join me!
The Summer of Love tour is coming to Tennessee starting in June and running through mid-September. We want to connect LGBT people and allies to one another, to the statewide movement, and to resources that help them advance equality in their hometowns across the state.
We're looking for volunteers to serve as tour stop organizers. What do these key volunteers do? They help us schedule a tour stop in your town and find a location for the meeting. If you have questions, contact us at [email protected] .
***Note: We are NOT looking for tour stop organizers for Memphis, Jackson, Nashville, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Cookeville, Chattanooga, Knoxville, or Johnson City YET. You can still sign up, but we're focusing on smaller cities where we don't currently have regional committees. We especially encourage you sign up if you're in a smaller town. Thanks!Become a volunteer
