Defend Diversity at UT-Knoxville: Veto SB1912

The Legislature passed SB1912/HB2248 that removes funding from the Office for Diversity and Inclusion at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. Sign this petition that we will deliver to Governor Haslam asking him to veto the bill.

Governor Haslam, we call on you to veto SB1912/HB2248 and protect the University of Tennessee-Knoxville's Office for Diversity and Inclusion. The office plays a vital role in making the university competitive for the best students, faculty, and staff and it makes campus life welcoming for all. Thank you for considering our views.

There is NO UT, NO Tennessee, NO USA, NO World without Diversity!! Seriously, doing the right thing is NOT always easy, NOT always popular, but it ALWAYS remains the right thing to do. We need Diversity in every aspect of our lives, it makes us who we are, it makes the dreams we dream, it makes life worth living!! Without Diversity we would be a world of droids, only worse because we would have the thought to even make a droid. There is but one Judge and each of us one day will receive our judgment. I am a graduate student in Social Work. This program is invaluable for people who have struggled to find safe, supportive spaces their whole lives. Some students on campus are overtly cruel to minority students. Please do not take away their support.
