Stop using religion to discriminate in Tennessee

stopusingreligion.JPG

On April 18, 2016 about 30 pastors shamefully stood in Legislative Plaza and spoke in favor of the anti-transgender student bathroom bill.  And religion was used to advance the counseling discrimination bill.  Many more clergy across Tennessee publicly opposed both bills.

Whether you're religious or not, aren't you tired of religion being used to support discrimination in our laws?  If so, endorse this statement:

We oppose the use of religion to justify discrimination in Tennessee law.  To use religion to divide us in our public life violates the spirit of the U.S. and Tennessee Constitutions, does harm to the people of Tennessee, and brings scandal to religion.

I survived the emotional abuse of using my love for God as a weapon against me. I know of others who did not. Please stop destroying lives under the pretext of saving those lives.

Not everyone is religious, so why should a group of religious people tell those that are not religious what they can and cannot do based upon their religious believes specifically? However, they don’t even follow all the scripture on a day to day life. According to the Bible, if a woman has marital relations outside of marriage, she is to be stoned….yet, nowhere in the Bible are the words “Gay” and “homosexual” mentioned. However, we do not stone women that have marital relationships outside of marriage. Also, the Bible says shellfish is an abomination and no one even mentions that. I don’t care what people try to say about the whole Old Testament and New Testament thing…if you are going to practice a religion, you have to practice it entirely….not just pick and choose. This is why I refuse to follow a religion because I know there are going to be things about pretty much every religion that I’m not going to want to follow so rather than trying to force my belief’s on someone else, I just go about my business. Also, the whole ordeal over the bathrooms is just stupid. When I have to use the bathroom, i go in and do my business….i’m not in there to check someone out or try to hook up. I honestly think that bathrooms should be unisex bathrooms. There are more political and members of a clergy getting busted for doing things in bathrooms they shouldn’t be doing than anyone else. So, they need to focus on fixing their agenda before trying to force anything on anyone…..

It is dispicable that hypocrital bigots ,using religion for their own agenda, falsely slander innocent people. These counterfeit christians need to read the constitutions and be silenced.
