Please, join us in encouraging Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to fight against this attack on transgender students.
Dear Governor Haslam,
We call on you to do everything in your power to lobby against passage of SB2387/HB2414, the anti-transgender student bathroom bill. We also ask that you VETO the bill if it reaches your desk.
The bill endangers vulnerable students and it risks significant U.S. Department of Education funds to Tennessee. If this bill became law, the enforcement would be a nightmare for school districts across the state.
Show the world that Tennessee is a welcoming state. Thank you for considering our views.

Right now, people use the restroom of the way they LOOK. This bill is quite hateful to people that already have it rough.

Rebekah Dawson signed via Rev. Scott Kelly 2016-03-21 23:03:11 -0500One of the most common places for LGBT+ people to be sexually harassed and assaulted in is public bathrooms. Rules like this would only make this problem worse. Adolescence is an important time in a person’s life and feeling as though the system is set firmly against them will do nothing for their self esteem (or their respect for such a system). A population with such a high suicide rate (41%) because of socia stigma does not need an added layer of systemic violence against them. Love Tennesse’s trans kids and use your power to help the people who need it so desperately
