Please veto this discriminatory legislation and protect transgender students in our schools. There are other opportunities to serve ALL the needs of these students in schools. This is really about individual freedom to be who they really are and provide the basic necessity of a student throughout the day. As an individual who has frequent “bathroom” needs when I in the public arena, I am always aware of where the bathroom is. I cannot imagine the anxiety and the fear that transgender students experience with attending daily school, let alone being relaxed sufficiently to study and learn. Please veto this oppressive legislation which flies in the face of personal liberty.

All lives matter ! We should be able to be comfortable in our own skin !

There has not been a single case of a trans-person threatening or assaulting a cis person in a restroom. There are MULTIPLE cases of trans-people being attacked when using the restroom. This bill is based in pure animus with a potentially devastating fiscal note and should not make it out of committee. Should it make it to your desk, Governor Haslam, you MUST veto it and all bills that aim to make our LGBTQIA citizens “Less than” in the great state of Tennessee.

How about we give less money to the testing companies and more to schools to build bathrooms for students with non-normative gender identification?
