Governor Haslam, Fight for trans students and against SB2387/HB2414

Please, join us in encouraging Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam to fight against this attack on transgender students.

Dear Governor Haslam,

We call on you to do everything in your power to lobby against passage of SB2387/HB2414, the anti-transgender student bathroom bill.  We also ask that you VETO the bill if it reaches your desk. 

The bill endangers vulnerable students and it risks significant U.S. Department of Education funds to Tennessee.  If this bill became law, the enforcement would be a nightmare for school districts across the state. 

Show the world that Tennessee is a welcoming state.  Thank you for considering our views.

    Dear Honorable Gov Haslam, Please consider the plight us trans-gendered persons have already. I once worked in a company that made me use a bathroom way on the other side of the building so other employees could keep their own facilities. That was in 1985 At the Belk Distribution Center in Charlotte NC. I want to improve conditions for all people in this 21st Century. Please help us.

    Do the right thing by all the people you represent. Forcing people to use one bathroom over another is hurtful in and of itself but it’s also dangerous for trans people to be forced to walk into a men’s restroom dressed in the female attire they fell is who they really are inside. Such a simple thing. Such a crazy thing for politicians to use as a tool to ram their so called religious beliefs down the rest of our throats. Stop supporting the insanity.

    Please veto ANY legislation that would increase the risk of bullying, and place children in harm’s way solely because their gender identity might conflict with their birth certificate. Veto Senate Bill 2387 – it is a serious over-stepping of legislative involvement in a deeply personal situation.

    There is nothing Christian about this bill. Jesus never intended that his words used as a weapon against a minority group of people or anyone else. This is not what Christianity is about, this is hatred pure and simple and only Satan would find pleasure in this behavior that goes against everything Christ taught us.

    This bill is totally unnecessary and harmful to all students, not just to transgender students, because it teaches discrimination. It also perpetrates an atmosphere of fear. Young people in our schools do not have a problem with this issue. Let’s not create one for them.

    Please veto this bill. TN is a beautiful, welcoming state and this bill would ruin that reputation. And target the LGBTQ community who has already suffered enough. Not to mention putting all children at risk because someone, somewhere will eventually ask to see their genitals. To prove themselves. This bill is tasteless, tacky and certainly not constitutionally enforceable. Thank you.
