Dear Governor Haslam,

We call on you to do everything in your power to lobby against passage of SB2387/HB2414, the anti-transgender student bathroom bill. We also ask that you VETO the bill if it reaches your desk.

The bill endangers vulnerable students and it risks significant U.S. Department of Education funds to Tennessee. If this bill became law, the enforcement would be a nightmare for school districts across the state.

To Gov. Haslam & all TN legislators — Please do some research on this issue. It is obvious to me that you are basing your legislation on uneducated assumptions which have nothing to do with biology, social behaviors & prejudices, and actual people’s lives. Base your research on actual scientific research!

For an excellent & easy to read source, see the book Woman: An Intimate Geography, by Natalie Angier. It was published in 2000 but is very well researched, very relevant to this issue today, and far more informative than most info that TN legislators and their aides are likely to find online, based on their usual searches.

This bill is a gross miscarriage of justice and does not need to be passed. Transgendered citizens of the United States have the right to not be harassed based on who they are.
